The ClimateCamp platform was recently updated with the FLAG Emissions feature.

This feature helps you track and manage your emissions more effectively and clearly. Hereโ€™s a quick breakdown of how it works.

๐Ÿ’ก Why This Feature Matters

The FLAG Emissions feature is a big deal for companies in industries that rely heavily on land use and farming activities. This includes sectors like forestry, agriculture, food retail (as it is part of the supply chain), clothing and apparel (as they use materials like cotton), and the paper and pulp industry. Businesses involved in these sectors can now see their emissions more clearly, making it easier to track and manage their carbon footprint. By identifying where their emissions come from, companies can make smart decisions to improve sustainability and cut down on their environmental impact.

๐Ÿ’ก How to Use the New FLAG Emissions Feature

Step 1: Go to the Calculate Section

  • Log into the ClimateCamp platform and head to the Calculate section to begin managing your emissions data.

Step 2: Open the Activities Tab

  • In the Calculate section, click on Activities and then navigate to the Purchased Goods and Services tab.

Step 3: Add a New Activity

  • Add a new activity, like Coffee Export, and fill in the details such as the emission group, organization unit, supplier, and quantity. Select your tracking period, like January 2023 to December 2023.

Step 4: Choose the Emission Factor

  • Select the relevant industry emissions factor, such as the one for Coffee Green Beans.

Step 5: Automatic Breakdown into FLAG Categories

  • The platform will automatically categorize your emissions into the four FLAG categories:
    • Direct Land Use Change
    • Indirect Land Use Change
    • Land Management
    • Other Biogenic Emissions

This breakdown helps you pinpoint which parts of your operations contribute to each emissions category.

Step 6: Review in the Overview Tab

  • Head to the Overview Tab and click on the FLAG Section to see a visual representation of your emissions data. The data is displayed in charts, such as pie charts and bar graphs, for easy understanding.

Step 7: Compare Emissions Year-over-Year

  • Compare your emissions year-over-year. For example, once you add your 2024 data, you can compare it to 2023 to see if your emissions have increased or decreased, helping you track your progress.

Step 8: Analyze Supplier Emissions

  • The platform also breaks down emissions by supplier. If you have multiple suppliers for your Coffee Export product, you can see what percentage of emissions comes from each supplier, helping you choose lower-emission partners.
